In New Jersey there is this amazing catering company called APRON. You can also go in and get fed. The food is great! Ask for Jess, she's amazing.

Can't wait till I can upgrade my camera to something that takes juicier photos... some day! But this is just a taste of our trip. Just as we only really got a small taste of Philly. It came and went and felt like more time was spent in the van than anything. And probably because that is true!

Mini Tour: Summer of '09

Our first mini (and I mean mini!) tour ever! And we survived!

First day: Rained off and on. As we got out of town we made our way to a little restaurant Kenan had suggested that is known for their bologna sandwich. He would plan tours based around different food stops if we would let him. Do you trust a man with bacon tattooed on his arm? ;)

Our travel guide was falty but even the clouds seemed to point us in the direction we needed to go. This was my first trip back to BGSU since I left school there a long, long time ago. My parents both went to school there which resulted in my existence. And my existence there resulted in a 1.6 somethin' GPA... (Don't worry. I redeemed myself later haha)

I was thrilled to see an Elvira pinball machine there which I hope to acquire one for myself some day! That and her convertible...

After a night of sleep and bed bugs at the hotel we made our way towards Massillon. I'm a lucky duck cause I don't get carsick from reading. So I started this gem and am wishing I would let more of my wild woman surface because I bet she is fun. We shall see.

We crashed my Mom's garage sale and made an amazing meal and enjoyed the company. It was nice to fill up my Mom's new house with laughter and music. And unfortunately later- farts. She didn't complain though and she spoiled us until we left the next morning. Akron was a good time as always and I felt comfortable romping around in front of my friends and peers.

While driving to PA I spotted familiar red nails and a black cape sticking out by a trash can. We pulled over and acquired two new friends for the trip. A wood cutout of Dracula and another of a Mummy. Now they decorate our practice space!

I have to say I was rather nervous for our show in Pitsburgh. Our first ever out of state show! Pitsburgh owns. It has such a presence. It is fun and tough. The Smiling Moose had all this awesome Horror movie decor and famous monster heads aligning the back of the bar. I felt like a wimpy girl that was about to sing her guts out. I was nervous trying to hold my own. But it was rewarding! After we played the response was great cause they got it and they appreciated it and we had so much fun. Lord Grunge was kind enough to offer us a place to stay and we couldn't have asked for a nicer place. It was beautiful! I was stretched out on the couch. Face down into sleep. It was lovely. I woke so early though and decided to wander the city and find coffee. The guys sleep and I wander. It's what I do :) I found a great coffee shop and tried to soak in a bit of the city before we left. It was just a little bit but it was nice to have a change of scenery.

We made it home safe and sound and I have to say that we learned a lot on this mini trip. I'm looking forward to many more in many different cities and can't wait for the road again!

Ok, well not exactly. Not yet at least.

But we are recording an EP which will be released THIS year. It will have 4 new songs for you!

I am excited about this. We were aiming for a full-length but we want to get them to you right away. I'm impatient damnit! I want this EP to show up at your door holding flowers. But just... don't let it in.

Howdy!

Thank you SO much to everyone who supported us in the Pick the Band contest. We unfortunately did not make it to the final round but are unbelievably thankful for all of your support and help! L.A is apparantly not ready for us yet :)

We have finally booked some in-town shows though! You have to wait awhile but I think that it will be worth your wait...

I'm about to head over to record vocals for a new Phantods song. We're hoping to share it with you once it's finished. But first I'm gonna make some homemade popcorn. Have you ever done this?? Dan got me addicted. It's way better than microwavable popcorn. mmmmmmm

EARTHWORK RECORDING STUDIO

Hello again!

On Friday the 13th we ventured off early into the morning to Newark, Ohio (I'm mad at myself for not bringing my Friday the 13th VHS so that we could have watched it on the way. Shame on me!) to spend the day at Earthwork Recording Studio. Tom (who is the founder of Earthwork Recording Studio) has a really exciting project in the works, called Breaking Band, that he invited us to be a part of. Sometime in the future we'll have a little video trailer of our day there to share with you! It was a really great experience. And the building is amazing. Not only is the studio beautiful but there is an apartment above it for recording artists to stay in. Plus we got to climb out onto the roof to see the view of good ole Newark.

During a break from recording we ventured next door to the Draft House for lunch. Feeling rather adventurous we all ordered their famous Benjy Boy-Girl sandwiches. OH MY. Has anyone ever experienced this?? I can't remember what all was on that burger but only two out of the four of us finished our sandwiches. And not because they weren't delicious. They were just MASSIVE.

My cozy cubby were I spent most of the time.

I'm teaching Kenan how to play piano! And he's sleeping?

I'm excited to share the live performances with you when we get the chance. I got to play a hot grand piano for a little bit and I think we all sort of felt like kids in a candy store around all of the great equipment and company. Thank you Tom and Nathan!

DAYTON, OHIO/RAMBO FIRST BLOOD PART II

Hello and welcome to our first ever tour blog!

You may be wondering about Rambo being in the title... Well our tour van came equipped with a VHS player. This is something I am very, very excited about! It means that I get to watch great (umm and probably some not-so-great) VHS tapes while traveling to shows. And what better way to start out our adventure than with Rambo First Blood Part II! I thought it would be fun to review the vhs tapes that we watch along with a recap of the show. (And we'll gladly take any good suggestions you may have of what we should watch next.)

RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD PART II

Ok. So obviously Rambo's back at it again. And no one will give him a break! Everyone deserts him and wrongs him. I mean, he finally finds love and in less than five minutes he's won his lady and then she's shot down. The guy needs a break. Seriously. There must have been about two pages of dialogue total when they wrote the script. And I was surprised that amidst all the blood and guts- no boobs! But hey, with all the action (and I always feel for the lonely) I have to give it a B-. "Murdock... I'm coming to get you."

THE OREGON EXPRESS/DAYTON, OHIO

We had a great time in Dayton. We were nervous at first when looking out at the tables of relaxed faces eating their dinner (we have a tendency to be LOUD) but you were so kind and receptive to us! People even laughed at my awkward joke during technical difficulties and you even clapped with us during Disregard. We will definitely not forget you. Thanks to Sohio and Twin Arrows (let us know when you've set a name in stone haha) for being so welcoming and playing great sets. I even had the honor of meeting another Gretchen!

I know I can speak for the guys when I say that another one of the highlights was our late night meal at Smokin' Bar-B-Que before heading back to Columbus. Amazing. Barbecue sauce in the corners of our mouths and happy tummies. The night was a great one and we even made enough in cd sales to fund those snuggies I so desire. Our next out of town show is set for April 30th at the Casa in Athens with Deerhead and the Makebelieves. And I've got a pile of VHS tapes just waiting. Hmm should it be the Toxic Avenger or maybe Fire Walk With Me...
